It’s been difficult finding internet access in Eastern Germany and Czech Republic so sorry for the lack of an update. Germany was ace….really diverse. Nuremberg was definitely a highlight. Lot of history in that place. Czech Rep. is really beautiful but the drivers are wonderfully disrespectful towards cyclists. There’s nothing like reaching the top of a steep hill and having a battered old Skoda push past with the passenger screaming out of the window like a man possessed! I also learnt pretty quickly that when you here a heavy goods vehicle coming behind you’d better get as far to the edge as possible to avoid the partially blind drivers. It’s all good though, I’m still alive.
I’ll be flying to London Gatwick from Austria on the 8th where I will cycle home on the final leg of the journey. Hope the weather ain’t too bad in England although I’m actually kinda looking forward to a spot of rain after all this sunshine….

Reached the Rhein. There’s a nice little cycle path that runs along it on either side and it’s good having the river as a guide as there’s no need to keep checking the map all the time; just follow the river south. I’ve also swam in it to escape the heat and slept by it on a couple of times…nice!
Undecided where to head for next because the Euro is whipping the Pounds arse so everything is pretty expensive and I’m sure Switzerland will be even more so. Possibly going east towards Slovakia and getting a cheap flight home would be a better option…. I will have to decide soon.

The destinations are places I could remember passing through so the route is not exact.
I had no idea what Luxembourg would be like before getting there but it turned out to be a really interesting place to cycle. The roads were steep but the views at the top of the peaks made it worthwhile. Spent one night in Belgium before going to Maastricht and I’m leaving Holland for Germany tomorrow.
Highlight: Seeing a large wildcat about 5 metres from my hammock in the middle of the night. It was much larger than a domestic cat and it’s call was loud!
Cheers for the comments! In answer to Mary´s question, I´ve slept in the hammock every night apart from two. Always wild camping to save money.
